Giganotosaurus TLC Arrives as ARK’s Extra Life Vote Opens

The Giganotosaurus is the next confirmed recipient of an ARK: Survival Ascended creature TLC, with its update scheduled for November 5. It is the third rework tied to the 2025 Extra Life community milestones—but it is not the result of a newly declared creature-vote champion. The next set of winners has yet to be selected, with the first of four announcements due November 13.

Studio Wildcard has described the Giga update as combining a new visual treatment with greater combat presence. Players planning to tame or travel near Giganotosaurus spawns should be ready for a more threatening encounter, while established tribes may want to reassess how the creature fits into their combat and transport plans after the TLC arrives.

The same upcoming package also includes the Enigmasaur, the final creature in ARK Fantastic Tames: Season 1. Its confirmed defining feature is shapeshifting. ARK: Survival Ascended is also preparing for an Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade, a technical-platform update announced alongside the two gameplay additions. No detailed mechanical breakdown for the Giga’s rework, the Enigmasaur’s transformations, or the engine upgrade was included in this announcement.

Extra Life fundraising will determine four more TLCs

The current Extra Life drive has passed $50,000, while the wider ARK community has raised more than $1.2 million for the charity effort across nearly 12 years. Donations to the Studio Wildcard Extra Life team support UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. Each $40,000 fundraising milestone unlocks one classic-creature TLC, for a maximum of four, and donation messages can also direct votes toward a chosen creature.

Votes are calculated at one vote per dollar. To allocate them, donors must include the creature’s complete first name with a hashtag in the donation message, such as #Giganotosaurus. Donations without a hashtag still contribute toward the fundraising total, but do not advance any individual creature in the vote. The winner schedule is November 13, November 20, November 27, and December 4.

Only tameable, rideable—or shoulder-pet—creatures from The Island that have not previously received a TLC are eligible. The prior-TLC exclusion list includes Araneo, Argentavis, Dire Bear, Direwolf, Gigantopithecus, Giganotosaurus, Mammoth, Megalosaurus, Parasaur, Procoptodon, Quetzalcoatlus, Raptor, Therizinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Sabertooth, Sarcosuchus, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Triceratops. Megalosaurus and Quetzalcoatlus are identified as upcoming TLC recipients, while Giganotosaurus joins the exclusion list with its November 5 release.

Extra Life colors and Cake Slices replace the usual donation-rate boost

From November 13 through November 23, the official network will receive a rotating selection of community-favorite wild-dino colors rather than the usual boosted donation rates. The color pool includes Cyan, Teal, DeepPink, Dino Albino, Glacial, Yellow, Magenta, Mint, PowderBlue, Peach, DarkTurquoise, LightPink, MediumTurquoise, Lavender, Blue, DarkTeal, Dino Light Red, Dino Medium Blue, WyvernPurple1, Dino Deep Blue, Light Yellow, LeafGreen, TurquoiseafGreen, and Dino Dark Green.

Five special Cake Slice items are also listed for the period: Taming, Breeding, Imprint, EXP, and Harvesting. For players on official servers, the practical takeaway is that the November 13–23 window is set to alter both the look of wild creature spawns and the available progression-focused event tools.

Server sunset, Fear Ascended, and Conquest remain active concerns

A selection of inactive official Island servers is marked for sunset on November 29. These servers are being renamed with a SUNSET prefix before removal, and that rename also removes them from in-game Favorites lists. Survivors with bases, characters, or stored assets on an affected server should manually search for it now and make relocation plans before the shutdown date. Studio Wildcard also intends to work with Nitrado on making saves available after the sunset process.

Fear Ascended runs from October 28 through November 11. During the event, standard PvP and PvE servers receive 2x Harvesting, Taming, Experience, and Breeding; Small Tribes receive 4.5x Harvesting, Taming, and Experience plus 4x Breeding; and ARKpocalypse receives 5x across Harvesting, Taming, Experience, and Breeding. The Haunted Homestead build contest has already closed to submissions as of November 3, with winners scheduled to be revealed in the November 6 Community Crunch.

Meanwhile, the cross-platform official Conquest servers remain available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The mode uses two separate wipe clusters: a one-month cluster with a 10-player tribe limit and a two-month cluster with a 25-player limit. Both run 5x core rates outside events, while event rates raise XP, harvesting, taming, imprinting, and hatching to 7x. Transfers are open within each cluster from launch, but not between the one- and two-month groups. Formal alliances, cave building, and rat-hole building are prohibited, while server populations are capped at 75 players. Survivors looking for large-scale PvP have 12 servers in each wipe group spread across The Island, Ragnarok, Astraeos, and The Center.

The Survival of the Fittest community playtest referenced in the announcement was scheduled to run through November 4 and was subject to a nondisclosure agreement. With November 5 now reached, players should not treat that test as an open source for public gameplay details. The immediate confirmed priorities are instead the Giganotosaurus TLC, the ongoing Extra Life voting campaign, the remaining Fear Ascended window, and the approaching November 29 official-server sunset.
