Enigmasaur Closes Fantastic Tames Season 1 as ASA Sets Extra Life, UE 5.8 and Server Plans

ARK: Survival Ascended has a busy stretch ahead, with a new Fantastic Tames creature, an Unreal Engine 5.8 rollout, Extra Life fundraising rewards, official-server changes and a fresh Conquest season all scheduled across the coming weeks. The headline addition is Enigmasaur, a shapeshifting creature set to conclude Fantastic Tames Season 1 on November 6, but the wider update contains several deadlines that official-network players and event participants will want to mark now.
Enigmasaur arrives November 6 with retained creature traits
Enigmasaur, identified in its dossier as Proteus mutabilis, is an insectivore built around copying other creatures. Its disguise goes beyond a visual transformation: it can take on another species closely enough to interact with that animal’s kind, including joining a Direwolf pack and hunting alongside it. Players may be able to distinguish one from normal wildlife once they know the signs, but its core identity is meant to be difficult to spot.
Taming one requires a different approach from a standard knockout or passive tame. Survivors must show the Enigmasaur that they have tamed the same type of creature it is currently impersonating. That proof has to be repeated as the creature changes through several forms. Once tamed, Enigmasaur can be taught forms for its morphic memory, creating a collection of transformations it can draw upon.
The major gameplay hook is that learned characteristics are not necessarily lost when it changes again. The example confirmed in the dossier is an Enigmasaur that has learned the Pulmonoscorpius form retaining the scorpion’s stunning attack quality after switching to a Rex. Returning it to its original body grants access to the abilities it has learned. That makes creature selection part of the long-term investment: acquiring useful forms should matter as much as choosing the form currently needed for travel, combat or taming support.
Enigmasaur will be released on November 6 as the final creature in ARK Fantastic Tames Season 1. Players preparing for it should consider maintaining a broader tame roster, since its recruitment condition specifically depends on demonstrating tames that match its active disguise.
Extra Life campaign brings four possible TLC updates
Studio Wildcard’s twelfth Extra Life campaign is again tied to potential creature TLC work for ARK: Survival Ascended. The campaign has previously raised more than $1.2 million for children’s causes, and donations this year go to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital through Team Wildcard. Four TLC updates can be unlocked, one for every $40,000 raised.
Donation messages determine the creature voting. A player must include a hashtag followed by the creature’s complete first name, such as #Giganotosaurus. Each dollar counts as one vote, and multiple donations add together. Donations without a valid hashtag still count toward the fundraising total but do not support any individual TLC candidate.
Eligible choices must be tameable, rideable or shoulder-pet creatures from The Island that have not already received a TLC pass. The previously updated creatures excluded from voting are Araneo, Argentavis, Dire Bear, Direwolf, Gigantopithecus, Giganotosaurus, Mammoth, Megalosaurus, Parasaur, Procoptodon, Quetzalcoatlus, Raptor, Therizinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Sabertooth, Sarcosuchus, Spinosaurus, Stegosaurus and Triceratops. The four winning creatures will be announced weekly: November 13, November 20, November 27 and December 4.
Official-network players will also see a special Extra Life period from November 13 through November 23. Instead of conventional boosted rates, the network will receive Taming, Breeding, Imprint, Experience and Harvesting Cake Slice bonuses, alongside a lengthy set of boosted wild color regions. The colors include Cyan, Teal, DeepPink, Dino Albino, Glacial, Yellow, Magenta, Mint, PowderBlue, Peach, DarkTurquoise, LightPink, MediumTurquoise, Lavender, Blue, DarkTeal, Dino Light Red, Dino Medium Blue, WyvernPurple1, Dino Deep Blue, Light Yellow, LeafGreen, TurquoiseafGreen and Dino Dark Green. Breeders and collectors may find that window especially worthwhile for seeking unusual lineages and event-colored tames.
UE 5.8 test continues before October 28 launch
ARK: Survival Ascended’s Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade is scheduled to arrive October 28. Before then, the Steam Public Test Realm remains available on The Island, where players can test the changes and submit reports. Another PTR update is planned for next week, concentrating on optimizations that produced the strongest GPU-performance gains during internal testing.
Test participants may also be selected at random to receive ARK: Dragontopia and Fantastic Tames Season 1 keys. For players with systems that have struggled with GPU performance, the PTR is the practical place to gauge the upcoming version before it reaches the live game. It is also an opportunity to help identify problems in a larger population of players and servers.
Inactive servers, Conquest and ARKpocalypse dates
A selection of inactive official servers will be shut down on November 29. Before removal, those servers will be renamed with a SUNSET prefix. That change also removes them from the in-game Favorites list, so anyone returning for a final check, transfer or base visit will need to search for the renamed server manually. Studio Wildcard says it is working with Nitrado to make the affected saves available through Nitrado’s interface after the scheduled sunset, with further details to follow.
The announcement does not identify the individual servers in the supplied update, so players should watch the in-game browser carefully for the SUNSET label and prepare their own belongings accordingly. The studio says capacity will continue to be added around major launches, when demand is typically highest.
Conquest, the large-scale PvP mode introduced to ASA by Snail Games, will begin a new season in early November. The mode operates with increased rates intended to speed up establishment and recovery after losses, and is available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation. A broader revamp is in development, with player questionnaires planned through the Conquest Enforcement Discord to inform future seasons.
ARKpocalypse has already received its monthly wipe, and its next wipe is set for November 13, 2026. These servers use elevated rates and monthly curated mods; they can be found by searching for “Arkpocalypse” in the server browser. Meanwhile, the current weekend bonus remains active through Monday, October 19: standard PvP and PvE official servers have 2x Harvesting, Taming, Experience and Breeding, while Small Tribes has 4.5x Harvesting, Taming and Experience plus 4x Breeding. ARKpocalypse has 5x across those categories.
Fear Ascended build contest closes November 3
Players can also enter a Fear Ascended haunted-build competition until November 3. Entries must be posted in the designated #haunted-homestead channel with three to five finished-build screenshots, the chosen category and platform; a short walkthrough video is optional. Builds must prominently use Fear Ascended content and be made during the competition period. Official-category entries must obey official building restrictions, while mods are permitted for Unofficial and Single Player entries.
There are separate prize pools for Official and Unofficial/Single Player categories, with one entry allowed per person in each category. First place receives Dragontopia and Fantastic Tames Season 1 keys plus a $100 Steam, Xbox or PlayStation gift card; second place receives both keys; third place receives both keys; two runners-up receive Dragontopia keys; and a special mention receives a Fantastic Tames Season 1 key. Winners will be revealed in the November 6 Community Crunch.
