ARK: Survival Ascended Opens Genesis Transfers Sept. 4 as Galleon Arrives

A massive wooden galleon sailing through rough seas near a volcanic island

ARK: Survival Ascended’s latest official update combines a major seafaring addition with a tight deadline for Genesis Part 1 players. The Galleon has launched as a large ocean vessel built for extensive floating bases and cannon-backed naval engagements, while unrestricted transfers into Genesis Ascended Part 1 Official servers are scheduled to begin September 4.

That same date is especially important for players on the Genesis Part 1 Expires servers. Those servers are due to close on September 18, leaving roughly two weeks to relocate characters, creatures, and equipment once transfers become available. Studio Wildcard has also temporarily suspended structure decay while it addresses remaining tribe-related issues following the previous week’s OC server outage; the plan is to restore decay on September 4.

A larger mobile base for the water

The Galleon is now in the game, bringing an outsized platform for tribes that want to establish their base on the sea rather than merely use a boat for transport. Its scale is intended to support fortress-style construction, and it carries a substantial cannon complement for fighting on the water. That makes it a potentially important option for groups looking to combine storage, crafting, defenses, travel, and combat capability in one mobile structure.

The timing also aligns with two broader changes to ARK’s ocean-focused play. New water physics add rolling waves and more dynamic seas, while Astraeos has reached its completed state. Players operating around Astraeos or Genesis waters now have a new high-capacity ship option, but it will demand the usual discipline of a mobile base: organize valuable supplies, plan who has access to critical storage, and avoid treating a single vessel as an invulnerable home.

For PvP tribes, the Galleon’s cannon battery creates an obvious naval-use case, but its practical value need not be limited to combat. A large ship can give a cooperative group a forward base for gathering trips, tame transport, long-range exploration, or staging work away from crowded shorelines. The risks are equally clear: concentrating a tribe’s resources on one craft can make preparation, crew coordination, and safe docking more consequential.

Genesis transfer window and server closure

On September 4, Genesis Ascended Part 1 Official servers will accept character, creature, and item transfers without restrictions. Players moving into the map can therefore bring their established survivors and assets rather than beginning with an isolated progression path. The opening coincides with the Genesis Part 1 Expires-server transition, making the date the start of the evacuation period for those temporary servers.

The Expires servers close September 18. Players with bases or inventories there should make a transfer plan well before the final day, accounting for creatures and items as well as their character. The key point is not simply gaining access to Genesis transfers; it is protecting anything worth retaining before the servers are taken offline. With structure decay planned to resume September 4, tribes should also return to normal upkeep expectations after the temporary pause ends.

Conquest Season 8 remains centered on Genesis Part 1

Official Conquest servers remain available across PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The large-scale PvP mode uses elevated rates to help tribes establish themselves and recover after losses. Season 8 consists of 18 Genesis Part 1 maps, split between two clusters: Cluster A has 12 servers, while Cluster B has six servers whose transfers were initially limited within that smaller group for two weeks.

Transfers between those two Conquest clusters opened July 17 at 10 AM PT. The season uses 5x rates and has Tek enabled, with several exclusions: the Tek Grenade, Tapejara Tek Saddle, Megalodon Tek Saddle, Rock Drake Tek Saddle, Mosasaur Tek Saddle, and Tek Railgun. For prospective Conquest players, those restrictions matter when choosing tames, planning raids, and setting expectations for the available late-game equipment.

Official-network rates through Monday

The current Official Network bonus period runs until Monday, August 31. Standard PvP and PvE servers receive 2x Harvesting, Taming, Experience, and Breeding. Small Tribes receives 4.5x Harvesting, Taming, and Experience alongside 4x Breeding. ARKpocalypse has 5x Harvesting, Taming, Experience, and Breeding.

Players trying to capitalize on the remaining time should prioritize the tasks most affected by the bonus: high-volume resource collection, difficult tames, leveling plans, and breeding cycles that can be completed before rates return to normal. With the Genesis transfer opening immediately ahead, the weekend can also be useful preparation time for tribes intending to arrive on the new destination map with supplies, creatures, and a clear plan.
