ARK: Survival Ascended Opens a New Era of Naval Building as Genesis Transfers Near

A massive wooden galleon sailing through rough seas near a volcanic island

ARK: Survival Ascended players have a substantial reason to look offshore. The newly available Galleon adds a much larger platform for seafaring construction, combining the scale for a floating stronghold with a built-in cannon battery for defending it. Its arrival comes as water conditions have been expanded with wave-driven ocean movement, while Astraeos has reached its completed release state.

For tribes that have treated boats chiefly as transport, the Galleon changes the calculation. It is positioned as a vessel capable of carrying an extensive base rather than simply moving a small expedition between coasts. That opens up new options for mobile storage, staging areas and defended operations on maps where the sea is part of the route forward, including Astraeos and Genesis.

A larger ship for open-water bases

The Galleon’s defining feature is its building space. Players can use it as the foundation for an offshore settlement, with enough room to organize crafting, supplies and defenses around a crew’s needs. Its cannons also make it a more serious combat ship than a purely civilian construction platform, so naval groups will need to think about firing coverage and where to place vulnerable structures.

The changing water physics give that role additional weight. Moving across the ocean is no longer presented as a flat-water trip, and the combination of waves and a bigger vessel makes preparation more important. Tribes planning long voyages should stock their ship as a self-sufficient base, protect key equipment and account for the risks of operating far from a safe shoreline.

Genesis Part 1 transfer window begins September 4

Official Genesis Ascended Part 1 servers will permit unrestricted inbound transfers of characters, creatures and items beginning September 4. That date is particularly important for players on the Genesis Part 1 Expires servers: those servers are scheduled to close on September 18, leaving roughly two weeks to relocate their holdings.

Players affected by the closure should avoid treating the transfer period as a last-minute chore. Moving a character is only part of the job; valuable tames, equipment, breeding lines and stored resources need to be accounted for before the expiration date. Tribes should decide in advance where their assets are headed and allow time for multiple trips if their inventories are too large to move in one go.

Structure decay is temporarily switched off while remaining tribe issues connected to the prior OC server outage are addressed. The plan is to restore decay on September 4, coinciding with the Genesis transfer opening. That temporary protection offers breathing room, but it should not be mistaken for a permanent change to upkeep or base-security rules.

Conquest settings and current network bonuses

Conquest Season 8 remains a high-speed large-scale PvP environment across 18 Genesis Part 1 maps. It uses 5x rates and has Tek enabled, with exclusions for the Tek Grenade, Tek Railgun, and Tek saddles for the Tapejara, Megalodon, Rock Drake and Mosasaur. The official Conquest network is available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation.

The season is divided into two clusters. Cluster A contains 12 servers that previously had transfers enabled with Classic before its shutdown. Cluster B contains six servers with transfers initially restricted to that six-server group; transfers between the two clusters are listed as opening July 17 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. Players choosing a Conquest home should therefore pay close attention to cluster restrictions and the practical availability of allied characters or supplies.

A limited official-network rate boost is also active through Monday, August 31. Standard PvP and PvE servers have 2x harvesting, taming, experience and breeding. Small Tribes has 4.5x harvesting, taming and experience, plus 4x breeding. ARKpocalypse runs at 5x for harvesting, taming, experience and breeding. The bonus is a useful opportunity to push through resource-intensive tames, raise creatures or complete a rebuilding project before rates return to normal.

More breeding-planning help on the way

Dododex is preparing an updated stat calculator for its web version. The upcoming tool is intended to handle both tamed and bred creatures, with configurable stat assessments and community-provided naming suggestions. No launch date has been announced, so breeders should regard it as a future planning aid rather than a feature available today.

Between the Galleon’s debut, the approaching Genesis migration deadline and the active rate event, the immediate priority is organization. Sailors can begin designing a proper floating base, while Genesis players should inventory what must be preserved well before the expiring servers go offline on September 18.
