ARK Survival Ascended’s Massive Astraeos Patch Adds New Regions, Bosses, Ships and Creatures

ARK: Survival Ascended has released a substantial new Astraeos update. The v93 major patch brings Astraeos v0.1.4 with two new regions, two Ascension encounters, additional minibosses, fresh creatures, expanded naval gameplay and a long list of fixes affecting several maps and core systems.

Its reach is much wider than one map. Concavenator variants now appear across multiple ARKs, Tides of Fortune owners gain the Galleon, Genesis receives new outposts, and several serious inventory, mission, creature and multiplayer problems have been addressed. Studio Wildcard’s complete official v93 patch notes contain the full technical list.

Astraeos opens Heaven and the Abyss

The map’s new land and ocean regions give the update its scale. Helianthos is a medium-sized island with high mountain ridges, flower-filled plains, peaceful creatures and scenic locations. It adds a noticeably calmer surface region alongside the patch’s combat-focused additions.

Abyssanthos expands the opposite extreme. This deep-sea region includes underwater air pockets suitable for base building. Tidepups and Palaeoctopus have also been added to Astraeos’ spawn pool, while new wave physics and weather events change conditions on the ocean above.

The environmental work extends beyond the two regions. Waterfall effects have been improved across Astraeos, with additional corrections for broken effects, terrain gaps, Wyvern Cave physics and post-processing, grass on Wyvern Island and taxidermy displays for several of the map’s bosses and creatures.

Two Kraken encounters expand Astraeos Ascension

A new Boss Terminal has been added on western Astraeos. Survivors can now face Abyssalus the Void Beneath and Shallocis the Void Above, two new Kraken Ascension encounters. Defeating both awards the maximum player levels associated with these encounters.

The patch also introduces the Colossus and Kroaratos minibosses. Miniboss loot can now include the Grand Tortugar Saddle, while Astral Souls and Hex Coins join the Apex drop pool. Unlockable rewards include the Agamemnon Helmet, Boaratos Spartan Saddle, Divine Sword, Divine Spear, Divine Shield and Trireme Chair.

The new terminal, minibosses, loot and dual Ascension encounters give established tribes several new objectives. Players entering the fights immediately should expect unfamiliar mechanics and may want to use equipment they can afford to replace until reliable strategies emerge.

Boaratos and Concavenator expand the creature roster

Boaratos is the headline Astraeos-exclusive creature. Studio Wildcard describes the new boar as massive, fiercely aggressive and scorching. The live version will determine its most effective stat priorities, counters, utility and breeding value.

Concavenator has a broader distribution. Its standard form appears on Scorched Earth, Ragnarok, Extinction and Astraeos. Genesis receives the X-Concavenator, while Aberration receives an Aberrant version. The creature is a pack hunter that can move beneath desert sand, launch aerial attacks and produce blinding sand clouds.

That map distribution is important for both official and unofficial communities. Server owners should confirm that every map in a cluster has completed the update before allowing transfers, while players searching for a particular variant should verify the correct destination instead of assuming the standard creature spawns everywhere.

Trireme and Galleon push naval building further

Astraeos owners now have access to the Trireme, an ancient-style warship built for the map’s new rolling waves and weather events. Astraeos ownership also unlocks crafting access to the Shipyard and the different ship ammunition types. A new rudder-direction indicator on the ship HUD provides a clearer view of the vessel’s heading.

The much larger Galleon belongs to Tides of Fortune owners. It supports extensive fortress-style construction and a large cannon battery for broadside attacks. Shipyards can be converted into Galleon Mode to accommodate the larger hull. The ownership distinction matters: Astraeos provides the Trireme and access to ship crafting systems, while the Galleon itself requires Tides of Fortune.

These ships arrive alongside fixes for several existing naval problems. Rebinding the Use command should no longer prevent dismounting, the anchored Sloop’s port-side ladder should work correctly, and the Shipyard placement limit can no longer be bypassed with Ocean Platforms. Shipyards and Ocean Platforms now share the same area restriction.

Genesis receives new Ocean outposts

The Genesis Ocean biome gains three named outposts: Brimstone Bay, Chained Megachelon and Market Port. Land outposts have also been distributed across the biome’s islands. Players can encounter 20 Pirate Camp layouts, defeat hostile pirates for loot or discover friendly Market Camps where neutral merchants sell discounted goods.

These additions place more combat, loot and trading encounters throughout the Ocean biome. Players will need to learn which camps are hostile and which contain merchants as they explore the new layouts.

The most important fixes go beyond Astraeos

The changelog contains many visual corrections, but several fixes have direct consequences for progression and item security. “Pick Up All Nearby” should no longer make items disappear when a player inventory is almost full. Blueprints deposited in Dedicated Storage should remain blueprints instead of becoming their corresponding crafted item, and Orbital Supply Drops should again provide MEK blueprints rather than completed MEKs.

Genesis Gauntlet players should no longer lose their inventory when a creature consumes their body during a mission. The final phase of the Genesis Final Test should continue spawning boss minions correctly, and meteors in the Lunar biome should no longer damage survivors or creatures in unrelated biomes.

Creature and companion fixes are equally significant. X-Basilosaurus embryos should hatch as the correct variant, Astrocetus Cosmic Power now scales with its Food stat, and a transferred player should no longer lose the Companion buff in a way that kills the linked Veilwyn or Armadoggo. Cryo Hospitals can no longer instantly restore creatures while reducing their mating cooldowns, and mounted Palaeoctopus movement on ships has received a multiplayer correction.

The update also closes building and equipment exploits involving floating structures, mesh access, Tek Forcefield protection and Custom Cosmetics that incorrectly provided armor or occupied several accessory slots. Multiple client crashes and broader exploits are included in the patch as well.

What players and server owners should do now

  • Update every server in a cluster before reopening transfers, especially where Concavenator variants or Astraeos content are involved.
  • Review ownership requirements before planning a ship build: the Trireme is tied to Astraeos, while the Galleon requires Tides of Fortune.
  • Back up unofficial servers before adopting the major version, then verify important mods against v93.
  • Recheck vulnerable systems such as Dedicated Storage blueprints, Embryo Incubators, Cryo Hospitals, companions and ship controls.
  • Prepare for the new bosses with replaceable equipment until the community understands both Kraken encounters and the new minibosses.

Astraeos v0.1.4 adds a large collection of new destinations and objectives. Helianthos expands the surface map, Abyssanthos introduces a deep-ocean region with buildable air pockets, and two Kraken encounters extend Ascension progression. Combined with the Trireme, Boaratos, cross-map Concavenator rollout and extensive fixes, v93 is a major ASA update even for players who do not spend all of their time on Astraeos.
