ARK: Survival Ascended is heading into a busy stretch: Fear Ascended begins October 28, while the Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade now targets November 5, 2026. Studio Wildcard also places the Giganotosaurus TLC and Enigmasaur on that November 5 schedule in Community Crunch 529.

For players, the important distinction is that Halloween content and the engine transition are separate milestones. For server owners, there is another deadline to keep in view: selected inactive official servers are scheduled to close on November 29. Here is how the announcements fit together, and what is worth preparing before each date.

November 5 is the new engine-upgrade target

The full UE 5.8 rollout has moved beyond the previously announced October 28 date. Wildcard says outstanding technical problems identified through the Public Test Realm need more work. It reports that 99.9% of mods have passed rebuilding and validation for the new engine, with roughly ten exceptional cases remaining.

That progress is encouraging, but it is not a promise that every individual modded setup will work without intervention. Before an engine change, an unofficial-server administrator should keep a recoverable backup, record the current mod collection, and watch the instructions from the authors of any essential mods. A successful rebuild and a smooth transition for a particular server are different checks.

The same announcement explicitly schedules the Giganotosaurus TLC and Enigmasaur for November 5. That is the current release plan, rather than a November 6 annotation elsewhere in the roundup. These remain announced dates, not confirmation that the content is already live.

Fear Ascended has its own October 28–November 11 window

The Halloween event runs from October 28 through November 11, 2026. New ghost variants include Tidepup, Burrowbuck, Gargantar, Bloodstalker, Therizino and Megaraptor. Additions also cover a dragon costume, coffin and pumpkin furnishings, plush decorations, three new chibis and a Play Dead emote.

Players collecting event creatures should plan around their normal map habitats: the announcement says creatures appear on their native maps. A long event roster should not be read as a guarantee that every creature can be found on whichever map a tribe currently calls home.

For single-player sessions, install and activate Fear Ascended through the mod menu. Wildcard identifies mod ID 877752; its private-server instruction is to include -mods=877752 in the launch arguments. Check your host’s existing mod configuration before editing it so that adding the event does not accidentally replace the rest of your mod collection.

Bonus rates and the building competition need separate planning

The published bonus levels are 2x harvesting, taming, experience and breeding on standard PvP/PvE; Small Tribes gets 4.5x harvesting, taming and experience with 4x breeding; ARKpocalypse gets 5x across those activities. Wildcard also announces a weekend bonus period ending Monday, October 26. That weekend deadline should not be confused with the later Halloween event window.

Fear Ascended builders have until November 3 to enter the Haunted Homestead competition, with results due in the November 6 Community Crunch. Official entries and unofficial/single-player entries are judged separately. Submit three to five screenshots to the designated Discord channel, identify the platform and category, and optionally include a video walkthrough.

Entries must be built during the competition period and visibly use Fear Ascended content. Official building restrictions apply to the official category; the other category permits mods. There is one entry per person per category. Each category’s first prize combines a $100 platform gift card with Dragontopia and Fantastic Tames Season 1 keys; other places receive the listed game keys.

A practical approach is to design a build around a clear theme and capture the finished result early enough to check the submission requirements. The event ending after the competition deadline does not extend the time available to enter.

Official-site maintenance arrives October 26

SurviveTheARK’s website and forums are scheduled to be unavailable on October 26, approximately 10 a.m.–3 p.m. Pacific, while Wildcard deploys its redesign. Afterwards, account sign-in will use the registered email address instead of the username.

This is website maintenance, not an announcement of a five-hour shutdown for every gameplay server. If you rely on a forum guide, announcement or account setting, save the relevant information beforehand and make sure you know which email address belongs to your account.

Extra Life voting and November’s server changes

Extra Life’s TLC campaign links each $40,000 milestone to another creature refresh, up to four. A donation message needs an eligible creature’s hashtag for its dollars to count towards that creature’s vote total. Eligibility is limited to tameable Island creatures that can be ridden or carried on a shoulder and have not already received a TLC; check the official exclusions before voting.

Winner announcements are scheduled for November 13, November 20, November 27 and December 4. The separate Extra Life in-game period runs November 13–23, with special colors and cake-slice items associated with taming, breeding, imprinting, experience and harvesting. Do not assume the event uses the usual donation-linked rate system: Wildcard describes a different reward approach this time.

The inactive-official-server sunset is set for November 29. Check the exact server identifiers in Wildcard’s list rather than assuming every server on a named map is affected. Servers renamed with a SUNSET prefix disappear from in-game Favorites, so players may need to search for them again. Nitrado save access is being arranged; the announcement does not say those saves are already available.

Conquest’s next season is planned for early November, without a specific launch day in this update. Feedback questionnaires in its official Discord are intended to inform the mode’s revamp. Treat that broad window separately from the fixed dates above.

The immediate priorities are straightforward: use the current weekend bonuses before October 26, prepare for Fear Ascended on October 28, and keep November 5 in view for the engine and creature rollout. Official-server residents should also check the sunset list now, while there is still time to make a plan.
