ARK: Survival Ascended is preparing for a crowded early-November update window. The next week is set to bring the community-voted Giganotosaurus TLC, the debut of the shapeshifting Enigmasaur, and the game’s move to Unreal Engine 5.8. At the same time, players have several time-sensitive reasons to log in: Fear Ascended bonuses remain active, Extra Life voting is progressing toward further creature refreshes, and a group of low-population official servers has entered its final month.

The Giganotosaurus is the third creature selected through the 2025 Extra Life community TLC vote. Its overhaul is scheduled for November 5, although the current Extra Life eligibility list identifies the Giganotosaurus release as November 6. Studio Wildcard has confirmed a new visual treatment and a stronger combat identity for the returning giant, but has not yet published a detailed ability breakdown. Survivors hoping to tame one should therefore plan around the usual dangers of confronting a Giga while waiting for the full mechanical notes.

Three major ASA changes are approaching

The Giga will not be the only addition in the upcoming rollout. The Enigmasaur will close ARK Fantastic Tames: Season 1, entering the game with shapeshifting as its defining confirmed feature. That makes it a notably different prospect from a conventional new tame: players will want to see how its transformations function in exploration, combat, transport, and tribe utility before committing resources to a breeding or taming plan.

ASA is also scheduled to receive its Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade next week. The announcement positions that update as a foundational technical step, rather than detailing individual player-facing changes. Players should keep an eye on the eventual patch notes and allow extra time for downloads, server updates, and mod compatibility checks when the upgrade arrives.

Extra Life donations determine the next TLCs

Team Wildcard’s Extra Life fundraising total has passed $50,000, contributing to more than $1.2 million raised by the ARK community over the event’s history. Donations to Team Wildcard go to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. This year’s campaign again ties fundraising to creature TLC milestones: each $40,000 raised unlocks one classic-creature refresh, for a maximum of four.

Every donated dollar counts as one vote when a donor includes a correctly spelled creature name with a preceding hashtag in the donation message. A donation without a hashtag still contributes to the fundraising threshold, but gives no votes to a specific creature. The first four winners are due to be announced on November 13, November 20, November 27, and December 4.

Only tameable, rideable or shoulder-pet creatures from The Island that have not already received a TLC are eligible. The Giganotosaurus is no longer an option following its imminent update, and upcoming Megalosaurus and Quetzalcoatlus TLCs are likewise excluded. Previous TLC recipients, including Argentavis, Raptor, Rex, Spino, Stego, Trike, Mammoth and Therizinosaurus, cannot be selected.

Extra Life colors and official-network bonuses

From November 13 through November 23, the official network will spawn a special range of community-favorite wild creature colors. The selection includes Cyan, Teal, DeepPink, Dino Albino, Glacial, Yellow, Magenta, Mint, PowderBlue, Peach, DarkTurquoise, LightPink, MediumTurquoise, Lavender, Blue, DarkTeal, Dino Light Red, Dino Medium Blue, WyvernPurple1, Dino Deep Blue, Light Yellow, LeafGreen, TurquoiseafGreen, Dino Dark Green and Dino Light Red. Collectors looking for distinctive breeding lines may want to reserve cryopods, taming supplies and base space before the color window begins.

Meanwhile, Fear Ascended rates are active from October 28 through November 11. PvP and PvE receive 2x harvesting, taming, experience and breeding; Small Tribes receive 4.5x harvesting, taming and experience plus 4x breeding; and ARKpocalypse has 5x across harvesting, taming, experience and breeding. These are useful rates for catching up on resource stockpiles, raising creatures, or accelerating a new character.

Server changes: sunsets, Conquest and SOTF testing

A selection of inactive official servers has been renamed with a SUNSET prefix and is due to close on November 29. Because renamed servers drop from the in-game Favorites list, affected players must search for the server manually if they need to reconnect before closure. Studio Wildcard says it is working with Nitrado to make saves available through Nitrado’s interface after the shutdown, with further details still to come. Players on a SUNSET server should begin safeguarding coordinates, tribe information and anything else needed for a possible move or save-file continuation.

The free Survival of the Fittest mod is also in a community playtest through November 4. Studio Sirens is developing an ASA version with revised mechanics, competitive matchmaking and metagame rewards. Registration is handled through FirstLook.gg, and participants are under a non-disclosure agreement, meaning test content and information must remain private. The team is seeking feedback on gameplay, balance and technical problems.

For large-scale PvP, Snail Games’ Conquest servers are available on PC, Xbox and PlayStation. The mode uses two separate clusters with internal transfers open from each cluster’s launch, but no transfers between the one-month and two-month wipe groups. Both clusters run 5x XP, harvesting, taming, imprinting, maturation, hatching, breeding and gestation, while event rates raise most listed activities to 7x. The one-month cluster has a 10-player tribe cap and the two-month cluster allows 25 players; each has 12 servers across The Island, Ragnarok, Astraeos and The Center. Formal alliances, cave construction and rat-hole building are prohibited, and servers have a 75-player limit.

Haunted Homestead entries close November 3

Builders have until November 3 to submit a Fear Ascended-themed Haunted Homestead to the official Discord’s designated channel. Entrants must provide three to five finished screenshots, identify their category and platform, and may add a short walkthrough video. Official-category builds must observe official building restrictions, while mods are allowed in Unofficial / Single Player. Each person may enter once in each category.

Judging will consider design, creativity, atmosphere, use of Fear Ascended material and the complete presentation rather than decoration count alone. Winners will be announced in the November 6 Community Crunch. First-place prizes in each category include keys for ARK: Dragontopia and ARK Fantastic Tames Season 1, plus a $100 platform gift card. Additional prizes extend through second and third place, two runners-up and a special mention. Winning builds from both categories will be featured in a future Community Crunch.

For most players, the immediate priorities are straightforward: use the ongoing Fear Ascended rates before November 11, verify whether a home server carries the SUNSET label, submit any build competition entry before November 3, and decide whether an Extra Life contribution should include a creature vote. The Giga, Enigmasaur and engine update then make the following week one of ASA’s most consequential update periods of the season.
