ARK: Survival Ascended is preparing a substantial September 30 update led by a refreshed Therizinosaurus. The creature’s TLC pass will arrive on the same day as the game’s Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade and the introduction of Gargantar and Cerberax. For players who rely on the Therizino as either a gathering specialist or a close-range defender, the update is positioned as more than a visual adjustment: it changes how the animal moves, harvests and fights while ridden.

The immediate concern for players using temporary Official Network Expire servers comes sooner. Those sessions are scheduled to disappear at 10 am PST / 1 pm EST on September 18. Survivors must move their characters, creatures and possessions away before the shutdown, since material left behind will not persist once the servers are removed.

A more mobile, more distinct Therizinosaurus

The upcoming TLC gives the Therizinosaurus smoother movement and a new bounding jump intended to make uneven terrain less troublesome. That matters for a mount often used in environments where a rider may be moving between resource patches, climbing awkward slopes or trying to keep pace with a tribe’s expedition. The revised mobility should make its travel role feel less constrained without changing the creature’s core identity as a dangerous herbivore.

Harvesting is also receiving attention. Tamed Therizinos will visually reflect the harvesting assignments they serve within a tribe, while their gathering interaction is being refined. The creature already occupies an unusual position in ARK’s tame roster because it can be tailored toward different resource jobs. The TLC adds clearer feedback around that specialization, giving tribes a more immediate way to identify what an individual tame is intended to do.

Combat will gain a dedicated heavy claw attack. The new swipe provides a stronger close-quarters option when hostile creatures crowd the mount, supplementing the Therizino’s established claws with an attack designed around controlling nearby threats. Players planning breeding projects or base defenses may want to consider which existing Therizinos they want ready for the patch, particularly if they use the species as an all-purpose gathering mount that can also protect itself in the field.

The September 30 update bundles these changes with the Unreal Engine 5.8 transition, Gargantar and Cerberax. The announcement confirms the shared release date but does not provide further gameplay specifications for the engine update or the two new creatures. Players should therefore treat the date and lineup as confirmed while avoiding assumptions about their individual mechanics until further official details are released.

Expire servers close September 18

Official Expire servers are short-term sessions identifiable by searching for Expire in the game’s session filter. They have been used to give players a temporary place to access newer content, tame creatures and collect supplies, while easing pressure on other servers. Studio Wildcard says those servers are drawing on capacity allocated for future maps rather than becoming a permanent part of the network.

The transfer rules are deliberately limited. Players can download only their character onto an Expire server, but can take belongings out freely. That makes the sessions useful for a temporary farming or taming trip, but it also demands an exit plan. Before September 18’s 10 am PST / 1 pm EST cutoff, players need to transfer out everything they intend to keep, including their survivor. There will be no recovery window for assets remaining on a server after its removal.

Conquest Season 8 and the weekend rates

Conquest Season 8 continues to use its large-scale PvP structure across PC, Xbox and PlayStation Official servers. The season has 18 maps, all configured as Genesis Part 1, with 5x rates. Tek is enabled except for the Tek Grenade, Tek saddles for Tapejara, Megalodon, Rock Drake and Mosasaur, and the Tek Railgun.

The season is divided into two clusters. Cluster A contains 12 servers that had transfer access with Classic before that mode closed. Cluster B has six servers whose transfers were initially restricted to their own group for two weeks. The season details list July 17 at 10 am PT as the point when transfers between Cluster A and Cluster B would open. The increased-rate setup is intended to help tribes establish themselves quickly and recover after losses rather than face a complete reset from a setback.

A separate Official Network rate event is also active through Monday, September 14. Standard PvP and PvE servers have 2x harvesting, taming, experience and breeding. Small Tribes receives 4.5x harvesting, taming and experience, alongside 4x breeding. ARKpocalypse has 5x across harvesting, taming, experience and breeding. Survivors with breeding timers, high-value tames or major resource projects should make the most of the limited window before those multipliers end.

Fresh mod options in the in-game browser

The cross-platform in-game mod browser remains the route for downloading community-made maps, creatures, items and game modes. The latest selection highlighted for players includes Cybernetic, Sword and Sorcery, Gloon Hat, Beachy Tribe Tower, Orchili’s Weapon Cosmetics, Better Humans – Costumes, QTVCosmeticArmor, Knight Skin, Seasonal Variants: Oasisaur and ARKOLOGY: OE – Boaratos+. The range covers cosmetic equipment, structures, themed content and creature additions, offering options for players looking to alter a server’s style or expand its available creatures.

With the Expire deadline arriving first, the practical priority is securing any temporary-server assets by September 18. Attention can then shift to September 30, when the Therizinosaurus’ altered traversal, gathering presentation and new defensive strike arrive alongside the UE 5.8 update, Gargantar and Cerberax.
